74% of HR leaders name AI as their top priority. 84% have already started. Fewer than half describe what AI has delivered as satisfying. The bell curve of adoption is predictable. What is happening inside it is not.
Cost and skills dominate early budget conversations. The moment organisations start moving, data silos and integration surface as the real constraints. The challenges visible from the boardroom are not the ones that determine whether AI works.
At the piloting stage, data silos create a 21-point satisfaction gap between organisations succeeding and those stalling. Integration is the universal wall. Only organisations with coherent data underneath get through it.
Organisations that describe their HR stack as easy to extend are six times more likely to be live with AI than those that describe it as difficult. The difference is not marginal. It decides whether you act in weeks or wait quarters.
Among organisations not yet started, 7% name consolidation as their top redesign priority. Among those already live, 31% say the same. Every stage of the journey makes the consolidation argument more loudly.
The organisations that got there first did not move fastest. They built better. Stack quality, strategy clarity, and a unified data layer are not technical concerns to delegate to IT. They are the strategic conditions that decide outcomes.
