New Delhi, 24th February, 2016: India’s “Best companies to work for” were awarded by Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis on 24th February 2016, at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. The evening which saw the who’s who of India Inc present, was the culmination of Best Companies to Work for study an Initiative by Business Today & PeopleStrong, in association with Naukri.com. The survey aims to understand the perception & aspirations of India’s talent across industries.

The Best Companies to work for study which is in its 13th edition shares insights into how industry at large and in specific verticals can align their proposition to the Perceptions & Aspirations of the Indian workforce. The survey reached to a base of 4 million salaried employees of India and came up with a list of best companies to work for overall and also in specific sectors.
Software, Hardware & IT industry dominated the chart with top three positions being bagged by Google India, Accenture & TCS. Highlight of this year’s survey was Internet-Based & hierarchy-neutral companies such as Amazon & Flipkart are moving up the aspirational ladder. This year, survey saw eight new entrants in the top 25 with companies such as Flipkart, Capgemini, Idea cellular, Citibank & Genpact among them.
Apart from the rankings the Survey also revealed interesting insights into the psyche of the employee base. The three key highlights that the study threw light on were: The employee value proposition of start-ups is what attracts employees towards the startups. What this means is the corporations are losing talent to the startups not because the startup wave; but because they have been able to create a compelling proposition which combines Growth opportunities, learning and compensation. Another important finding was a clear mandate from employees that employers should accept, respect and manage all kinds of diversity. Be it gender diversity, cultural diversity, or any other diversity that workforce faces; employees think that initiatives taken by employers are not enough and they need to catch up. Last but not the least employees want their employers to establish two way communication channels. Employees feel while it is important that they hear from the employers, it is equally important that their (employee’s) concerns are also heard. Employers surely need to pick up their game, leverage the power of digital to reach out to the last man standing. Then only can a best place to work be created.
